Hoffmann Vineyards, Lujan de Cuyo DOC (Mendoza, Argentina) Malbec “Reserve Especial” 2021 ($20)

This is a great value in a Malbec from what has come to be its favorite spot to grow on our planet. It shows blackberry fruit with a subtle meaty note and lively pepper on the nose, with a dash of Baker’s chocolate adding depth. All these elements are present on the palate, with the pepper well folded into the fruit. Supple tannins and a long finish tie up the package with finesse. Nice!
