Adam Oinos planted Refosco first in 2002 as part of a broader vision to cultivate both Greek and international varieties using modern farming methods and organic practices. Refosco, an international variety from northern Italy, adapted exceptionally well to his site and continues to show remarkable character today. Deeply colored and expressive, the wine is packed with black plum, black currant, and blackberry, grounded by earthy notes of red clay, dark cocoa powder, and worn leather. I would recommend enjoying Adam’s Refosco with hearty dishes — especially a well-seared, peppery steak or a big, juicy burger.
