Cartology has become a standard for old-vine Chenin from South Africa. Established in 2011, Chris and Suzaan Alheit have focused on identifying exceptional, old-vine sites throughout the Western Cape. The 2022 vintage is drawn from 30-50 year old vineyards that are dry-farmed and vinified with meticulous care. It is a multilayered, pure and exciting white that will make anyone a fan of South African Chenin. Aromas of flowers, ripe pear, honey, peach and lemon zest are evident at the nose. On the palate, the fruit is luscious and pure, with layers of pear, peach, lemon and tropical fruits underlain by subtle hints of mint and spice. All this pure fruit is enhanced by a rich texture, making the 2022 Cartology Chenin a wine to enjoy now or cellar for a few years.
