Amavi Cellars, Walla Walla Valley (Washington) Semillon 2024 ($26)

One of the very few West Coast wineries still working with Semillon, Amavi once again demonstrates that the variety deserves more attention. This 2024 Semillon was blended with 16% Sauvignon Blanc, and the wine was aged in neutral French oak. It opens with an exuberant aroma of ripe apricot and orange with just a hint of beeswax. The palate is big and viscous with ripe flavors, but remains lively with a touch of acidity adding length to the finish. A big wine that somehow manages to remain vibrant. Enjoy now and over the next few years.
