Anaba wines seem to be always very enjoyable, and the winery produces a number of them from different vineyards so you can taste the variations in sources. This one shows what I would call “restrained exuberance” in that it has lush dark, but not heavy, cherry fruit gaminess that really pops in the finish, yet is structured not to go over the top while allowing it to be long on the palate. It was aged in a one-third new oak for 20 months, which gives it some spiciness.
