This venerable estate is undergoing a renovation by its current owner, Treasury Estates, in an attempt to at least partially regain its former glory. However, its low price for a wine coming from the heart of Napa Valley signals that it has slipped considerably in stature through the years. So, let’s position this as a value Napa Cabernet, one that is warm with well-blended flavors of ripe berries – perhaps sweetly overripe – with toasty oak and a touch of darker oak in the finish with light tannins.
