Roda was founded in 1987 by drinks distributors Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurell after searching for the ideal base for their winemaking project. It is considered one of the brands that “built modern Rioja.” The 2019 Roda Reserva is a blend of 91 percent Tempranillo, 5 percent Graciano, and 4 percent Garnacha. The depth and complexity are immediately noticeable, armed by a bouquet of ripe, dark berry, espresso, and cassis that unfolds nicely in the glass with fresh black cherry and red plum that are delicately spiced with earthy mineral notes and fresh Mediterranean herbs. It is warming and inviting on the palate, with present tannin and fresh acidity providing verve and length.
