An Italian red that seems perfect for mid-to-late summer dining, the wine is dry, with slight frizzante on the finish that is not unusual for Freisa. Made from 100% Freisa (a close but notably more rustic relative of Piedmont’s noble Nebbiolo), it was fermented in steel tanks for about a week. Freisa means “strawberry” in Latin, and this charming, fresh tasting wine does indeed offer hints of strawberry on the palate.
