Intentionally or not, some Chardonnays have a lovely yellow color due to oxidation and a bit of a vanilla flavor derived from the toasting of barrel staves during the coopering process, and that is the case with this wine – quite pleasant, with a lot of energy, tart apple flavors and a much stony minerality – the antithesis to the California Chardonnays that some people love to hate.
