This is a fine example of Santa Cruz Mountain Pinot Noir, one that shows both red and black fruit, root beer, earthy minerality, and moderate oak toast that are well integrated and linger together long. The interplay between light and dark holds interest, with oak toast and spice notes dancing between. A little pepper pops up in the finish and serves to set off the fruit. I like this as an intriguing solo glass.
