This is the first Syrah I’ve tasted under the Canvasback label, and it shows solid varietal character, with black and blue berry, pepper, savory and menthol aromas and flavors. There is a fair amount of oak toast here, but it should fold in with a little bottle age. Lamb or venison would be a nice play.
