Capstone Vineyards, Virginia “C2” Sparkling Wine NV ($35)

From the Blue Ridge foothills of northern Virginia, this sparkler is a blend of Chardonnay (72%) and Chenin Blanc (28%) with the typical floral elements of Chenin and the mellow apple and Asian pear flavors of Chardonnay. It is rich, creamy, a little gamey, and just a bit shy on crisp acidity in the finish.
