This red blend is produced far off the beaten path in the Capay Valley AVA in the hills east of the Napa Valley. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, there’s a dash of Cabernet Franc and a meager one percent of Viognier. I’m not sure what the Viognier adds, but I can say this is a world-class red that will make you curious about other wines from the region. It’s big, bold and savory, with supple tannins, an attractive spice note, and a long, pleasing finish.
