This bottle is always a solid candidate for the trophy section of your cellar, and this vintage is sure to be near the top of your portfolio. This shows extreme complexity without becoming muddled, with layer after layer of aroma and flavor seemingly coming without end. I love the embrace of the tobacco and herb character here, which serves as a perfect foil for the rich, deep blackberry and cassis fruit. The subtle spice character grows through an extended finish. I retasted after four days on the counter and it showed better that the first pour, as wine at this quality level often do. I dare you to keep your hands off this near term — it’s so good now that I think you’ll find it difficult to resist! Contains 1% Petit Verdot.
