With all the hype surrounding the big houses in Bordeaux it’s easy to overlook some of the beautiful wines that are on the much more affordable side of the selection. Here’s a ready-to-drink blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that shows the neighborhood well, with blackberry, dried herbs, supple tannins and a fully integrated finish. That said, it will take some aging as well — a decade isn’t out of the question.
