Château Margaux is easily one of the most iconic Bordeaux producers thanks to its First Growth status in the 1855 Bordeaux Official Wine Classification, subsequent cult-like status, and consistently excellent quality. Château Margaux wines are made to age long after bottling. 35 years after harvest, this 1989 vintage is still showing signs of power that would have long disappeared from other wines. The wine shines with fresh blackberry, black currant, and black cherries while tobacco and leather traditional tertiary notes from bottle aging play an equal hand in the flavor profile. Château Margaux’s acidity and tannins have moderated when compared to its youth but are still supporting the fruit and body structure of the wine. Margaux’s Grand Vin demonstrates stunning elegance and is absolutely deserving of its top-tier status in Bordeaux. You can still find the 1989 vintage on the market, largely thanks to its collector status, and it is drinking excellently. Enjoy now through 2032.
