In light of the fact that this producer was advised not to plant Viognier on the estate (after it was already done) things have worked out pretty well with it. I liked the previous vintage, and I think this one shows a vineyard coming into its own. It shows true varietal character, with honeysuckle, peach, and citrus aromatics, along with some stony minerality adding depth. Taut acidity makes for a bright, delicious wine that translates aromas to flavors well and adds a dash of herbal character in the finish. The nose becomes more expressive as the wine warms a bit. Great possibilities for fish, fowl or flying solo.
