Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier describes 2015 as, “an extraordinary vintage, but one made for people with cellars: the wines will be better at age twenty than they are at age ten.” While I don’t disagree, this wine is already showing beautifully. It opens with an aromatic nose, revealing aromas of dark currant, poached plum, freshly turned earth, and subtle hints of anise. On the palate, ripe mulberries and a touch of white pepper add complexity, while juicy, ripe fruit is elevated by vibrant acidity. A robust framework of rich tannins ensures impressive length, culminating in a deliciously succulent finish.
