Dr. Konstantin Frank was one of the first wineries in the region to pay a lot of attention to quality sparkling wines, mostly following the Champagne formula for grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – with minimal attention to the German Sekt model, as one might expect from a Riesling region. The winery also likes to produce vintage-dated wines instead of a preponderance of multi-vintage blends. This one is full-bodied, but not heavy, with good assertiveness and nice apple flavors but with minimal minerality or toast flavors.
