This wine shows the red fruit side of Cabernet Sauvignon, perhaps thanks to the inclusion of 25% Merlot in the blend. It shows forward cherry and strawberry aromas, with pie spice, floral notes and a bit of granite minerality. On the palate a leathery note joins the mix, with firm grip extending the finish. Duckhorn’s 2011 Cabernets have their typical ageworthy structure, but are very attractive right now. I’d go with leg of lamb with this one.
