Labeled “Pleiades” in previous vintages, this white consists of Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc with a good dose of Palomino and Chardonnay. No, not that 4 legged Palomino, but the grape widely used for Sherry which was brought to Baja many years ago. This 2020 is a solid medium bodied white with fresh melon and lime in its fresh, zippy aroma. On the palate it displays excellent balance and depth with good citrus and melon flavors and a touch of acidity in the finish. With a restaurant and a resort surrounded by its 70 acre vineyard, El Cielo has emerged as one of Baja’s most popular tourist destinations.
