Elena Walch, Alto Adige DOC (Trentino, Italy) Pinot Bianco 2024 ($23, Wilson Daniels)

Pinot Bianco is an intriguing grape that provides both pleasure and versatility. Elena Walch is one of the top producers in the Trentino – Alto Adige region where Pinot Bianco is widely grown. The vines grow on mostly limestone soils at a 700 – 2500 foot elevation and the wine offers up impressive varietal purity. Peach, pear and tropical fruits scents are backed by subtle floral and spice hints. The intensity of fruit results in a deliciously creamy texture on the palate. Although Pinot Grigio gets most of the notice, Pinot Bianco is often an equal or superior quality wine. The 2024 Elena Walch bottling shows marvelous elegance and complexity.
