Elise Bougy belongs to a new generation of grower-Champagne producers who are redefining the region’s identity. Returning to her family’s estate in Les Mesneux in 2016, she immediately converted the vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming — achieving certification in 2022. Today, she tends three hectares spanning Premier Cru sites in the Montagne de Reims and a treasured Grand Cru parcel in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Her NV Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Chétillon de Haut (2022 base) is a striking expression of a singular site. This is a 100% Chardonnay – disgorged in January 2025, opens with a refined bouquet of citrus, white flowers, and hazelnut, accented by a delicate saline note reminiscent of oyster shell. On the palate, it’s medium- to full-bodied, yet feather-light in feel, its pillowy texture balanced by a vivid line of acidity. The result is a Champagne of chalk-driven precision with depth — and one that promises an extended, rewarding evolution in the bottle.
