I like the word “serviceable,” which to my mind denotes a wine that does the trick but isn’t anything special to write home about, assuming you still write home. It’s a good by-the-glass companion for heavier dishes that need some gentle support, leading with dark vanilla and honeyed notes from the oak and is a bit fruity sweet, with main flavors of baked apples and mellow pears with a few bitter notes in the finish.
