Long made in a style like white Bordeaux, this vintage of Flora Springs “Soliloquy” takes a different direction, one that started a few years back. Sauvignon Blanc (a house clone unique to this wine) still anchors the blend with exuberance, and healthy dollops of Chardonnay and Malvasia Bianca add a tasty twist on things, bringing apple and pear notes into the mix. The wine is sweaty in a good way, and that character gives lift to lemon zest and pith, stony minerality and lemongrass flavors. The finish has great push and shows the full profile all the way to the end. Always beautifully made, and it is so again.
