I don’t get a lot of cooler climate Petite Sirah passing across my desk, but wines like this make me wish that I would. It is pretty tight and tannic at this age, as is to be expected, but it is showing great promise. It is dry, with deep blackberry, blueberry and pepper just starting to peek out from behind all the structure. I’d age this for five or ten years — or more — and likely push my score upward a few points.
