Grgich did a very nice job in a challenging vintage with its 2011 Merlot. It shows an earthy note on the nose, with hints of plum, cedar and spice. On the palate there is a lean quality that many will find refreshing, but I suspect the palate also will flesh out over time as the structure softens.
