I love it when a wine over-delivers at its price-point. This wine, a label under the umbrella of Somerston Wine Company, is predominantly Syrah, and that shows right up front with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, tar accompanied by bright fall spice and touches of chocolate and white pepper. The palate is balanced, fruit forward and nicely integrated, delivering the aromatic elements in a full flavored, spicy package with a long finish that’s ready to pop and pour. Lots of pairing possibilities here — I’d go for a grilled pepper steak.
