Hoffmann Vineyards is a label to watch, as this flagship bottling attests. It is a right-down-the-middle example of Mendoza style, with berry fruit, moderate oak influence, easy spice and pepper notes that play together perfectly and linger long. It is the sort of bottle that will please both the crowd and the cognoscenti, especially when served alongside grilled meats – you could go just about any color with the meat: beef, chicken, fish – all could work. Or just enjoy it on its own. Nice!
