Plavac Mali is a native grape to Croatia and the country’s most planted red grape variety. The name means "little blue" in Croatian, which refers to the small, bluish fruit produced by this vine. It is the offspring of two native grapes, Dobričić and Tribidrag – the latter also being known as the original Zinfandel. This 100 percent Plavac Mali is rich and full-bodied with ample acidity and tannins to support the layered notes of plum, blackberry, blueberry, violet, and earth. If you like Nebbiolo, this is the Plavac Mali for you, and for existing Plavac Mali fans, this is worth seeking out.
