Family owned for three generations, Jasci was among the first Italian wineries to be certified organic back in 1980. This 100% Montepulciano from 2021 once again has me wondering why the wine is not better known. Native yeast fermented and aged entirely in stainless and concrete, it is all about the grape and region. This darkly colored wine needs a little time for the aroma to assert itself with black currant and cinnamon as its primary themes that continue into the flavors. With airing, a subtle floral note and a hint of strawberry emerges. The palate is medium-bodied and sturdy with ripe fruit in the forefront and good tannic structure. It finishes with some tannins and old-fashioned grip. Enjoy it with pasta or whatever you pair with red wine.
