Joseph Faiveley, Volnay 1er Cru (Burgundy, France) 2009

 Faively was exceptionally successful in 2009, which is really saying something in this terrific vintage for Pinot Noir Burgundy.  Ripe and rich and already very approachable, the wine is nevertheless not lacking for structure, as there’s enough acidity and tannin to enable it to develop for many more years.  Suave and subtle, with beautiful texture and impressive length, this is textbook Volnay.
