Hérault is the traditional wine cellar of everyday French wine production, a lovely strip of countryside across the southern coast with Béziers as its major city, a region best experienced from a barge hotel along the Canal du Midi. The vineyards have improved over the years as has the winemaking, so even a simple rosé such as this one can be quite enjoyable – no more plonk du jour! The wine is crisp and lean but not too much so with citrus flavors, mainly orange, but also of fresh strawberries with good acidity and a touch of metallic minerality.
