A real surprise, this fairly modestly-priced Dry Creek Valley Zin has been made very much in what used to be called the “claret style,” meaning that it succeeds in doing what this particular grape variety rarely does–tasting elegant and refined. If you want a Zin that runs roughshod over your taste buds, as so many do these days, it won’t satisfy. But if you want a wine in which nuance and subtlety come to the fore, it offers very impressive value.
