Librandi is sort of the Robert Mondavi winery of Calabria, the instep of Italy’s boot-shaped peninsula, a winery that makes multiple wines and has helped raised the area’s international standing for quality. Yet it doesn’t over-reach in doing so, making wines that are on the positive side of the price / value equation. This one is delightful everyday drinking. Its lightish color belies a solid structure and intense mature fruit flavors with lots of dusty tannins – a nice every day comfort wine.
