As this wine rested in my tasting queue, I happened to read a short story called The Night Guide by Thomas Steinbeck (son of John) a writing that mentions Mount Pico Blanco, which happens to be between Big Sur and the Pisoni vineyards on the slopes of Santa Lucia Highlands. If you are a fan of crisp white wine, you’ve just found a friend worthy of toasting a summit experience of any kind. A blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc from a cool climate, it tips its hat to Alsace while popping with California freshness. Lemon, lime and tart stone fruit flavors water the mouth and last quite a while, begging sip after sip. Jeff Pisoni strikes again.
