Lucy Wines by Pisoni, Monterey County (California) “Pico Blanco” 2023 ($26)

The Gary Pisoni family introduced Lucy Wines to pay homage to Monterey County. The fruit for Pico Blanco is sourced from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco. In 2023 the blend worked out to be 86% Pinot Gris and 14% Pinot Blanc, and the wine is fermented in neutral oak. Flavorful and vibrant from start to finish, this wine combines lemon zest, melon, and honeysuckle in its aroma, and on the palate it is medium bodied, with a pleasing texture. The flavors of melon and peach sweep beautifully across the palace and end with a touch of chalkiness. Good length in the finish makes this a great seafood companion.
