The unconventional Luminary red blend is a collaboration between four winemakers across three distinct appellations in two states. Hence the "American" appellation. If that seems to be an invitation for confusion, was is very clear is that this is a wine with a future, a beautifully structured, richly layered, complex red that you can enjoy now or cellar for ten years or more. Now for the nuts & bolts. Michael Beaulac of Pine Ridge in the Napa Valley provided Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; Jason Ledbetter of Double Canyon in Horse Heaven Hills in Washington chipped in with some Syrah; Fintan du Fresne of Chamisal Vineyards in California’s Edna Valley also delivered a shot of Syrah; and Ted Seghesio of Seghesio Vineyards in California’s Alexander Valley gave the project some Zinfandel. Got that? Bottom line, it’s delicious. Trust me.
