Mettler Family Vineyards, Lodi (California) Zinfandel 2014

I don’t think of Zinfandel as a shy wine, and this example certainly confirms my profiling.  The bouquet will wake up almost anyone with its assertive notes of bacon fat, cinnamon and clove, and the very ripe flavors are quite expressive and penetrating.  Platinum Award winner at the 2017 San Diego Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition.
