“Opolo – Bold Wines Done Right” would make a fine slogan for this producer, who keeps turning out the lusty hits vintage after vintage. There are some more reserved wines in the portfolio, but I suspect fans are running up the driveway for things on this end of the list. Blackberry, currants and fall-leaning brown spices are well folded already, and a little heat on the finish boosts without burning off the fruit flavors. For me it’s a cheese course wine, but it would also work very nicely with a tri-tip prepared in Paso style.
