Contrary to the general notion that Beaujolais is mindless quaffing wine, this excellent rendering of Moulin à Vent displays real density, depth and power, but manages to do so without seeming chunky or coarse. The fruit shows both red and black tones, with more grip in the finish than Aviron’s other crus, though the additional structure is quite welcome, as the substantial fruit really needs the framing. Impressive!
