Premium Douro reds from traditional Port grape varieties seem to share a regional profile that is quite different from those of other major, traditional red wine areas such as Bordeaux, Rhône, Rioja or Tuscany in the amount of red fruit flavors they intermingle with the black fruits. That is the case here, with this lovely wine mainly from Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grapes from Symington’s Port quintas – rich and spicy, long on the palate and with refreshing acidity to go with the brighter, tangy fruitiness. It is a complex wine as well, with the tannins well-integrated and with manageable 14.5% alcohol.
