This wine is one of Quinta do Crasto’s “Super-Douro” wines, made to showcase the quality and complexity of traditional Douro varieties. Tinta Roriz is not only one of the great grapes of the Douro, but also is one of the great grapes of Spain where it is known as Tempranillo. This wine is less opulent and bold than its stablemate, the Touriga Nacional. The nose is mellow and fine with crunchy red fruits, spicy oak, and earth. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated so that the overall impression is elegance. This is a pretty wine of complexity and length.
