This is Roederer Estate’s second vineyard designated offering. A blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir from vines just east of the tasting room, it is named for the drive into the winery from Boonville through the orchards. It spent 34 months en tirage before getting a dosage with six grams per liter of residual sugar. It’s no surprise that Anderson Valley apple-forward character is showing full blast here, with a lower dosage than the longstanding multi-vintage house offerings. It is wildly fresh and bright, with great length and citrus zip in the finish. A perfect California aperitif!
