Rombauer Vineyards, Carneros (California) Chardonnay 2023 ($42)

Rombauer has become almost a reference point for a certain style of Chardonnay – apple pie aromas, ripe fruit with baking spices, lightly fruity-sweet, and with a finish of toasty oak. This vintage seemed to have slipped just a bit, as it is a little broader than usual with less definition to the flavors.
