In 1970, Paolo and Dina Rapuzzi established Ronchi di Cialla to revive Friuli’s indigenous grapes, including the once nearly extinct Schioppettino (Ribolla Nera). Through the Rapuzzis’ dedication and perseverance, the Schioppettino grape was officially recognized as a DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli variety in 1989. Their 2021 Rosso RiNera, crafted entirely from Schioppettino is a delicate and aromatic red. It features a light garnet hue and offers vibrant notes of wild cherry, blueberry, raspberry, dried rose, black pepper, and crushed granite, with fresh acidity and a savory, spiced finish.
