Stefano Occhetti is an up-and-coming winemaker from Piedmont who is embracing both new ideas and classic traditions. Roero, located across the Tanaro River from Barolo and Barbaresco, earned DOCG status in 2004. Roero’s principal red grape is Nebbiolo and this wine is sourced from 70 year old vines in the Sanche vineyard. This Nebbiolo is booming with suggestions of red cherry, cranberry, tar, and rose petals. Sanche offers a juxtaposition between elegant flavor and an aggressive tannic and acidic structure. it will benefit from further cellar aging but, with a production of roughly 5,000 bottles, you will need to grab a bottle before they run out.
