While Tokaji ranks among the world’s greatest wines and is arguably Hungary’s most famous wine, many other styles are worth getting to know. The 2017 Márga is a blend of Furmint and Olaszrizling, two of the country’s indigenous varieties. This complex and crisp white wine emerges from the glass with aromas of lemon curd, honey, and ripe pear. There are flavors of apricot, pear, quince, honeysuckle, and a touch of flint. It is well balanced with nice heft on the palate and a splash of fresh and lively acidity in the finish.
