This wine took a long time to open up, but it most certainly did. What started as a completely closed wine when first opened then bursts with strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors after sitting in the bottle with a glass’ worth of head space for four hours. Mourvedre’s signature dank notes are subdued here, but not so much so that the charm added by the contrast is absent. Try this where you might usually reach for a Pinot Noir but want a bit of tarry character to join the proceedings.
