Intriguingly complex and alluring in both its aromas and initial flavors, this is looking very successful at this point in its development. Medium-bodied but leaning toward full, it featured dark fruit tones almost exclusively, with a whiff of toasty oak riding alongside the fruit-based notes. Macerated to a degree that resulted in tannins that are now quite well measured in relation to the wine’s lightly sweet fruit and overall palate weight, this is still a wine on the rise, though it is unquestionably enjoyable now with a bit of buffering from accompanying food.
